Relay for Life

Relay for life is an international event held in more than 33 countries. It was initiated by the American Cancer Society. In Zambia, the Zambian Cancer Society is the only licensed organisation to host Relay for Life. This volunteer-led experience unites communities to celebrate cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost to cancer, and fight back to raise funds to improve the lives of people with cancer and their families through advocacy, and patient support, to ensure we create a world with MORE BIRTHDAYS & less cancer.

Kids Fun Day

Kids Fun Day is an event hosted by the Zambian Cancer Society every year at the Cancer Disease Hospital aimed at providing children admitted with cancer a day filled with joy, games, activities, and various entertainment.

It’s a way to lift their spirits and offer them a break from their medical treatments, fostering a supportive and uplifting environment for the young patients and their families.

On this particular day, all we want is to help the little ones forget they have cancer and just enjoy being kids.

At Zambian Cancer Society, we believe that FUN IS PART OF CHILDHOOD!

Brave Hearts Photography Project

This is an inspirational project that seeks to combine the power of art with the genuine cause of supporting children battling cancer in Zambia.
Brave Hearts is a photography project that aims to capture the strength, courage, and indomitable spirit of these young warriors.

The primary objective of Brave Hearts is to raise awareness, generate empathy, and fundraise in support of childhood cancer in Zambia. Each photograph in this project will tell a unique story of hope, resilience, and the unwavering will to fight, with the goal of showcasing these children not as victims but as heroes.

The project features powerful portraits of children and caregivers, each accompanied by their personal stories, creating a deeply moving and inspiring experience for all who attend.

In addition to raising awareness, the project will serve as a fundraiser, with proceeds directed towards supporting children with cancer in Zambia. This includes funding for medical treatment, support services, and essential resources needed to improve their quality of life.

You too can create a meaningful and impactful gesture that not only celebrates the resilience of these brave children but also makes a tangible difference in their lives by donating to the cause.

Duku Challenge

Founded amidst the silent battle against cancer in Zambia, Dukutober stands as a beacon of hope, igniting conversations, raising awareness, and providing vital support to those in need.

In the spirit of Dukutober, every Duku(headwrap)tells a story. These individual expressions, woven together, create a rich tapestry of connection that transcends gender, age, and background. As communities gather, our collective actions – the sea of colorful fabrics, the shared moments of laughter and tears, the resounding chants of hope – become a powerful visual representation of the shared experiences that bind us in the face of breast cancer.

We celebrate the resilience of survivors, their strengths, a beacon of hope for those still battling. We remember loved ones lost, their memory forever etched in our hearts, fueling our determination. And together, we strengthen our resolve to fight back against this disease, our voices united in a chorus that echoes with unwavering determination.

You too can participate by posting photos of your Duku on social media with the hashtag #Dukutober#Dukuchallenge and challenge your friends to do the same. You can also support the cause by purchasing Dukus, T-shirts and other merchandise from the Zambian Cancer Society, with proceeds going towards our cancer support programs.
