Thank you, Ministry of Health Zambia , UICC – Union for International Cancer Control – ATOM COALITION and all stakeholders for enabling the convening of the ATOM Coalition Health Financing and Situational Analysis. This was done with the support of the Zambian Cancer Society – as the ATOM Coalition in-country Secretariat and MedRAP as the ATOM Coalition in-country Technical Consultant.

Access to Oncology Medicines (ATOM) is UICC – Union for International Cancer Control – led initiative that drives access solutions for cancer medications. Zambia is the first country in Africa to be considered under this initiative.

The ATOM Coalition’s ambition is β€œto reduce suffering and deaths caused by cancer in low and lower-middle-income countries through improved access to and use of essential cancer medicines.

The Union for International Cancer Control (UICC)on behalf of the ATOM Coalition and Zambia’s Ministry of Health have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance access to essential cancer diagnostics and medicines, marking a significant step towards access to quality healthcare.

Zambia is one of 46 countries selected by the ATOM Coalition to receive support in improving access to life-saving cancer treatments.

Through this partnership, Zambia’s Ministry of Health and Cancer Diseases Hospital (CDH) will work to strengthen national cancer care, supported by the Coalition’s global network of partners.

Access to cancer medicine must be made available to ALL – it must be timely, cost-effective and easily accessible. Living healthily is a basic human right!

Ministry of Health Zambia and other partners, let’s continue working together for better outcomes for all those affected and afflicted by cancer. Thank you for your continued support!
