The Zambian Cancer Society is very pleased to share news of a significant partnership that directly supports women who have undergone breast removal surgery (mastectomy) due to cancer in Zambia.

The DukuTober Breast Health, in collaboration with Knitted Knockers USA and with the generous support of Zoca Dance Zambia is now facilitating the distribution of handmade breast prostheses (artificial breasts), known as “Knockers,” free of charge.

These soft, knitted, lightweight, and comfortable prostheses offer an alternative to silicone options, providing a greater sense of comfort and normalcy for those who have experienced breast removal surgery. They are made from soft, washable cotton yarn.

This Initiative will provide these Knockers at no cost to patients in Zambia (𝐞𝐱𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲) who can provide a referral or confirmation from a healthcare facility verifying they have undergone breast removal surgery.

This initiative marks another significant milestone under the Dukutober Breast Health Initiative, reinforcing our commitment to holistic and patient-centered support.

All donated Knockers are provided free of charge and should never be resold. If you are in doubt, please contact us directly to report any concerns.

“We may not be able to provide every woman with a surgical option, but we can offer her something just as powerful: comfort, dignity, and the assurance that she is not alone. Sometimes, a soft knock and a kind word are all it takes to help restore her confidence.”

To receive a pair or to learn more, please call 0976 659 914, Monday to Friday between 08 30 and 16 00 hrs.
