Ashley’s life took an unexpected turn when she was diagnosed with cervical cancer in her mid 20’s.
Initially, she experienced abnormal menstrual periods, which were misdiagnosed as a hormonal imbalance. Thankfully, her mother encouraged her to seek further testing at Marie Stopes, where she was diagnosed with stage 1B cervical cancer. Ashley underwent treatment at the Cancer Diseases Hospital.
In this episode, Ashley opens up about her journey, including her initial denial and subsequent depression. She shares how cancer, specifically cervical cancer can impact ones fertility and dating life and emphasis was made on the importance of HPV vaccination, caregivers and awareness, especially in rural areas.
